SIRIUS R8DB is a portable and high channel count data acquisition system. It can be configured with up to 128 analog input channels with high-end signal conditioning amplifiers. The system is equipped with a built-in data logger, a powerful processing computer with modern connectivity interfaces, a high-resolution touch screen display, and internal batteries for maximum portability.

R8 instruments are high channel count, standalone DAQ systems with built-in powerful data processing computer, SSD data logging capabilities, touch-screen LED display (R8D and R8DB), and internal Li-Ion batteries (R8B/R8DB) for maximum portability.
Systems can be configured with up 128 high-dynamic analog input channels. Select between various signal conditioning amplifiers for voltage, current, IEPE, charge, strain, LVDT, thermocouple, RTD, and resistance signals.
Systems can be configured with up to 64 counter/encoder/tacho input channels or 192 digital input channels. All counter inputs are equipped with our patented SuperCounter® technology that enables the best resolution for angle and speed measurement.
SIRIUS R8DB system can be configured with up to 27 high-speed CAN 2.0b channels. CAN channels feature 1 Mbit/s data throughput with additional support for CCP, OBDII, J1939, and CAN output.
DAQ system includes EtherCAT master port with built-in synchronization for easy connection and extension of any of our EtherCAT-based DAQ systems like KRYPTON, IOLITE, or SIRIUSe DAQ systems.
The built-in SBOX computer features modern connectivity options and interfaces, including Wireless LAN (WiFi), dual gigabit LAN, USB 3.0, GPS/GNSS, HDMI, and EtherCAT. Synchronization capabilities are also available.
All portable DAQ systems can be equipped with an optional 10Hz or 100Hz GNSS receiver, allowing for precise GPS positioning in navigational testing applications. These GNSS receivers also offer optional RTK support, which can enhance positioning accuracy to 1 cm.

At the core of the SIRIUS® R8DB data acquisition systems lies the robust SBOXre computer. This computer is driven by an 11th generation Intel® Core® i5 CPU, providing ample power for even the most challenging signal processing tasks.
The SBOX computer boasts 8 GB of memory, with an option to upgrade to 32 GB. It also features a fast internal SSD drive, ensuring dependable storage for extended, high-speed data recording.
Additionally, the SBOX computer offers a range of modern connectivity interfaces:
Network Interfaces: Choose between 2x GLAN or a combination of 1x GLAN and 1x WLAN.
8 USB Ports: Includes 3x USB 3.0 and 1x USB 2.0 ports on the front, plus 4x USB 3.0 ports on the rear. These are suitable for connecting data acquisition devices like SIRIUS, DEWE-43A, and other peripherals such as a mouse, keyboard, printer, and external hard drives.
EtherCAT Expansion Port: Allows to add more input channels using any of our EtherCAT-based data acquisition systems, including KRYPTON, IOLITE, or SIRIUSe.
Optional GPS/GNSS Receiver: Available in 10 Hz or 100 Hz, with the capability to connect to an external GPS display or an RTK base station.
SBOX is also equipped with an EtherCAT® slave port which can be used to expand and distribute additional analog channels by connecting any of our EtherCAT®-based data acquisition modules such as KRYPTON or SIRIUSe.
EtherCAT® port includes a built-in hardware synchronization hub for synchronization of all the connected EtherCAT® devices with the internal analog channels. Only one cable is needed to daisy chain the units. The single cable is used for data, synchronization, and power to all extended EtherCAT® devices.
SIRIUS® R8DB systems have built-in Li-Ion batteries that enable full autonomy without any external power supply. This makes systems to be truly portable data acquisition systems.
SIRIUS® R8DB's internal battery capacity is 360 Wh (4 Li-Ion cells with 90 Wh).
Batteries are hot-swappable. You can exchange batteries during your measurements without the need of shutting down the system and interrupting your test.

The setup and measurement process in the FRF module is really fascinating. Among the systems that I have seen, it is the absolutely most straight forward. SIRIUS data acquisition system offers a full range of signal amplifiers available that can condition almost any signal. You can connect voltage, high-voltage, IEPE, charge, strain gauge based sensors (quarter-bridge, half-bridge, and full-bridge), load cells, thermocouple, RTD, LVDT, current. You can check the SIRIUS tech specs page for the full list of different amplifiers available.
The DualCoreADC® technology solves often faced problems with signal measurement - input overload, noise, and artificial frequencies in the signal caused by aliasing. The input signal can be higher than expected (out-of-range) and therefore clipped by the A/D converter.
With SIRIUS data acquisition systems, each input channel amplifier has two ADC's that always measure the high and low gain of the input signal. This results in the full possible measuring range of the sensor and prevents the signal from being clipped.
With DualCoreADC® technology SIRIUS DAQ hardware achieves more than 130 dB signal-to-noise ratio and more than 160 dB in dynamic range. This is 20 times better than standard 24-bit data acquisition systems and 20 times less noise.
