X-line Updates: New Modules, Safer Power, and Smarter Connectivity

We are introducing key upgrades to our X-line product family, including both SIRIUS X and IOLITE X devices.

The X-line portfolio now features new high-precision strain gauge modules, the SIRIUS-X-16xSTGS and IOLITE-X-8xSTGS, offering low-noise, high-resolution measurements for demanding applications. Additionally, the SIRIUS-X-16xLVe now features a DSUB9 connector option, supporting DSI adapters and enabling broader sensor compatibility for industrial environments.

These latest updates also improve safety and expand functionality with newly keyed power connectors to prevent misconnection and an additional integrated CAN-FD channel for extended communication capabilities.

X-line Updates

New X-line devices

New advanced strain gauge measurement modules

Dewesoft is expanding its strain gauge measurement portfolio with the launch of the SIRIUS-X-16xSTGS and IOLITE-X-8xSTGS modules. 

SIRIUS-X-16xSTGS and IOLITE-X-8xSTGS modules

Both modules are engineered for high-precision, low-noise, and low-drift performance, ensuring reliable and accurate strain measurements across a wide range of industrial and research applications. 

These modules enhance data quality in structural testing, material analysis, and other demanding measurement scenarios where stability and precision are critical.

STGS module highlights:

  • 8 and 16 channels: IOLITE-X-8xSTGS is an 8-channel bridge measurement module, while SIRIUS-X-16xSTGS offers double the channel count - in total 16 inputs for all types of strain gauge sensors.

  • Full, Half, and Quarter Bridge Support: Offers flexibility in sensor configurations; the 4-wire quarter bridge includes automatic lead-wire compensation, enabling hassle-free setup even in high-channel-count applications, such as structural testing of aircraft. It reliably compensates for wire resistance in cable lengths of up to 100 meters, ensuring accurate measurements without manual adjustments.

  • Programmable excitation: Software-selectable excitation ensures optimal sensor performance across different setups.

  • Load monitoring: Load monitoring provides insights into excitation voltage, load resistance, current running through the load, and total power. The readings are visible directly in the channel setup or during the measurement, using System monitor channels.

  • High-Resolution ADC: Both modules feature a 24-bit sigma-delta converter with up to 50 kS/s sampling rate.

  • Software-selectable shunt calibration: Includes a built-in 100 kΩ shunt for easy calibration and lead-wire compensation.

  • Multiple connector options: Available with DSUB37, DSUB9, or terminal block connectors for versatile integration.

  • Easier connectivity: Modules offer many standard interfaces such as active PoE, GLAN, and PTPv2 sync. This makes it easier for the devices to be connected to each other, powered, and synchronized - all with only one cable!

The SIRIUS-X-16xLVe is a modular data acquisition module equipped with DSUB9 connectors, offering enhanced flexibility compared to the terminal block version. Its bipolar excitation enables full compatibility with DSI adapters, allowing seamless integration with a wide range of sensor types. With the right DSI adapter, the X-line can be used to measure virtually any physical quantity, making it a truly versatile solution for diverse measurement needs.

  • DSUB9 connectors: Enable robust and secure connections for industrial applications with a standard universal pinout.

  • DSI adapter support: SIRIUS-X-16xLVe has added DSI Adapter support with signal conditioning to provide compatibility with a wide range of sensors, enhancing measurement versatility.

With up to 16 analog input channels, 24-bit resolution, and a sampling rate of up to 200 kS/s per channel, the SIRIUS-X-16xLVe delivers high-performance data acquisition in a compact form factor.

General X-line device updates

Safety upgrades

As part of our ongoing improvements to the SIRIUS X line, we’re introducing new Power IN/OUT connectors that enhance both safety and compatibility.

SIRIUS X can operate with power supplies up to 56 V. To protect other Dewesoft devices that are not rated for this voltage, each SIRIUS X unit will now include the PS-XXW-56V power supply, equipped with specially keyed Lemo connectors. These connectors are uniquely designed to fit only into the SIRIUS X PWR IN port, preventing accidental connection to incompatible devices.

Importantly, SIRIUS X remains fully compatible with all existing power supplies using the standard 2-pin Lemo connector. This update delivers added protection without compromising compatibility with your existing cables and accessories.

Additional CAN/CAN-FD channel

Additionally, we’ve added a second CAN(-FD) channel, giving the SIRIUS X dual integrated CAN(-FD) ports on the rear of the device.
