December 11, 2023

On October 7, the RIMAC hypercar Nevera set a new world record in reverse driving at the Papenburg proving grounds in Germany. Dewesoft measured and documented the speed record.

Measuring a new Guinness world record for the fastest reverse-driving

Rimac Group is a long-time customer using Dewesoft equipment in numerous departments for multiple measurements and applications. RIMAC offered Dewesoft the prestigious task of measuring velocity and distance for setting a new Guinness world record for the fastest vehicle driving in reverse.

The Croatian automotive manufacturer Rimac Group, led by CEO Mate Rimac, designs and manufactures the electric Nevera hypercar. Based in Zagreb, Croatia, the Rimac Group is developing high-performance electrification, electronics, and software solutions for the world’s largest OEMs.

Automotive application engineer Matjaž Strniša used Dewesoft’s inertial navigation system, Navion i2, for accurate position and velocity measurements and presented the facts in DewesoftX software: Maximum Velocity 275.74km/h (171.34mph) over 863.14m.

RIMAC and the Guinness World Records organization relied solely on Dewesoft to verify the velocity and the Guinness adjudicator, Mr. Jack Brockbank witnessed the record reverse driving.

Dewesoft provided complete documentation on the performed measurement, including the values measured and technical details about the equipment used, measurement uncertainties, and the calibration report for the navigational unit.
